Every year the Stroud District Foodbank lovingly prepares over 400 Christmas Hampers that go to local households. These hampers provide some extra treats to bring cheer over the holidays.
Read on for how you can get involved.
# One of the best ways to give is during our Tesco Christmas Collection at our Cam and Stroud stores *. Volunteers will help you with a shopping list and collect food to be brought straight to the Warehouse. *date for 2020 tbc.
# Donate food from our seasonal shopping list in time for us to pack our Hampers. Last date for seasonal food is Friday 11th December 2019.
# Reverse Advent Calendars. We love a Reverse Advent, it’s a brilliant model. This year we are partnering with Kid’s Stuff to collect non-Christmas items through December in preparation for the post-Christmas season. Click here for 2019 copy. 2020 will be released in October 2020.
# One item really is plenty. If you would like to make an extravagant shop (and some people do) perhaps consider a supermarket gift card, a financial gift or wait until February.
# Don’t give. Think about not giving from mid-December til after Christmas. May sound strange but we can run our operations more smoothly and focus on our clients.
# Read don’t phone. All our opening hours, information about food collections, what to donate, and volunteering opportunities are on our website. Please please save calling the office for genuine inquiries. We’d love to save the phone for emergencies. Thank you!
**Just note the office and warehouse is CLOSED from 23rd December through 4th January 2020. So please arrange to bring your Reverse Advent items in January. Thanks! All our Christmas Opening Hours (2019) are here. 2020 hours will be released in October 2020.
**If you feel you or someone you know would benefit from a Hamper, please talk to a support worker/school and see if they are able to refer you. We do not deal with requests directly but through the agencies, charities and schools we partner with.
